Book gift keeps on giving—December 10, 2010
Christmas is just around the corner. If you are still looking for the perfect gift for that special someone in your life, why not donate a book in their honor to the library. Each year the library has a great selection of books to choose from to donate in honor of or in memory of a loved one. This year the selection is vast and includes books for adults such as cookbooks, biographies, books on classic cars, and many more. There are also books for teens and young adults. We also have a good selection of picture books and non-fiction titles for children and even some beginning readers for the child in your life who is just discovering the joy of reading!
Not only is this a special gift for the honoree, but it is a special gift for the entire community. Each book donated to the library has a gift plate inside that tells who the book is in honor of and who donated it. This plate will serve as a reminder for years to come.
When you come in to donate a book, you have the option of being the first to check the item out or you can have it placed on hold for the honoree. Also it might even be fun to check out the book and wrap it up to be opened on Christmas Day. Hastings Public Library will also send out a card to the recipient of the book letting them know about the honor, or you can choose to pick up the card with the book so that it is a surprise.
The Christmas table books usually go fast, but don’t worry if you do not see a book you would like to donate. You can make a donation to the library in honor of someone and specify what type of book you would like us to purchase.
So if you still haven’t found the perfect gift, stop by Hastings Public Library today and browse our great selection of gift books!
