Plan your wedding at the library—February 12, 2010
Dum-Dum-De-Dum. Dum-Dum-De-Dum. That’s right, its wedding planning season and a lot of brides and grooms are attending bridal shows to help them plan the big event. But I bet you didn’t know that the library can also help in planning your wedding day.
The library has some books that can help you plan the wedding of your dreams and still stay within your budget. A new book to our shelves is “Stylish Weddings for Less: How To Plan Your Dream Wedding On A Budget.” This book is loaded with helpful ideas on how to stay on track, but still have the wedding you always wanted.
If you are baking and decorating your own wedding cake we have a couple books that will help. “Wedding Cakes You Can Make” helps you plan, bake, decorate and even gives tips on how to transport your cake safely to the reception site. Another good wedding cake book is “The Wedding Cake Decorator’s Bible” which is full of pictures of tools and equipment and “how to” procedures on decorative techniques.
Every wedding is enhanced by music. We have wedding music on CD, if you would like, and you may check them out and preview some beautiful music to usher you down the aisle. Some of the titles to choose from are “Most Requested Wedding Songs” “The Ultimate Wedding Collection” “Brides Guide to Wedding Music” and more. If you have someone to play the piano but need the sheet music, try the following books with keyboard music for weddings: “Well Tempered Weddings”, “Great Songs for Weddings” and “The Essential Book of Wedding Music”.
Some brides and grooms choose to write their own vows but are not quite sure how to start the process. Try one of these books to help you unblock that writer’s block: “With These Words…I Thee Wed” or “Wedding Vows: Finding the Perfect Words”. And, for anyone called upon to make a speech or a toast to the new bride and groom, this book will help you: “The Knot Guide to Wedding Vows and Traditions”.
Congratulations to all the engaged couples out there. I would like to leave you with a quote that I found in the “Knot Guide to Wedding Vows” book. “Where there is great love, there are always wishes” Willa Cather. We’re wishing you a great and happy life!
