Modern libraries are about people and being a community gathering place. We provide materials, resources and access to the world of information and ideas to all citizens, including those in the community that otherwise could not afford it.
Renovation Plans include:
Children’s story time room, additional meeting room space, improved accessibility, reading lounges, comfortable seating, increased energy efficiency, new west entrance, improved access to collections, additional 6,000 sq ft of public space, and computers for all ages.
We hope you will participate in this important effort to update one of Hastings’s greatest community assets. For more information please contact Rebecca Maddox-Spady, Fundraising Chair at (402) 463-0631 or e-mail Becky.
Also read Amy Greenland's article for more about the proposed renovation.

The Hastings Public Library has operated on the corner of 4th Street & Denver Avenue since 1904. Since Andrew Carnegie agreed to provide $15,000 toward a building, the mission of the library has been to be “free and open” to the community.
